How have new digital technologies changed the way journalists do their core job and communicate with their readers/listeners/viewers?

About the new digital media, as we know it none other more than social media. Daniel Nations has definition of social media like this: “The best way to define social media is to break it down. Media is an instrument on communication, like a newspaper or a radio, so social media would be a social instrument of communication. In Web 2.0 terms, this would be a website that doesn’t just give you information, but interacts with you while giving you that information. “Thus, social media is a dual aspect of communication tools to communicate it to the media, such as newspapers, radio, and TV, injected a very different form of communication. ago, it was only from a professional media company in both newspapers, radio, or television to get published the news, whether or not true, or is it through the packaging, the media to publish only the news they want to publish the contents of the audience who do not care about the idea, however, web 2.0 era, the press is undoubtedly a change in opportunity, from the beginning of unilateral output messages era, and now news entertainment era.

Founded in May 2005 of the “Huffington Post ” in just six years’ time, they make monthly unique visitors reached more than 35 million on 2011, more than a century- old history of the New York Times online edition , a truly mainstream news site(David Sarno,2011). ” The Huffington Post “from its inception to the rapid development into online giant, with its multifaceted caters Web2.0 network new media characteristics. Into the Web2.0 era, users become the core of Internet technology. As well as the individual Internet users have also to become the Internet simultaneously active communicators, writers and producers. The “Huffington Post “is a typical user-centric website. Although only 200 paid staff, but the site has over 3000 but no checks can be published directly Bowen bloggers and 12000 can be made subject content of the “citizen reporters ” , just a month of its readers will be able to produce up to 2 million contributors(David Sarno,2011& The Huffington Post ) . ” Huffington Post,” the co-founder Jonah Peretti think that, Web2.0 era news mode longer than a news delivered negative relationship, but ” a shared between producers and consumers career.” Web2.0 era of the Internet also clearly have sharing, interaction , personalization and other significant features , users desire for network information thus showing a diverse , multi-level , multi-angle characteristics. “The Huffington Post ” editor every day moments staring popular keywords, then filter based on these keywords most timely and interesting content, and repackage posted online(The Huffington Post ) .

Digital dissemination not only changed journalism, but also changed the news reports, integrate, publish and share it. People interested in creating grassroots content and publish and share ideas, to interact with other readers. In this context, the news site that the traditional one-way indoctrination news, there is no appeal, the user scale is gradually diverted by new forms of media, network news showing a downward trend in usage. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and some other kinds of social networking sites accounted for half of global popular websites. In the United States, many readers, especially young people, every day, spend a lot of time on Facebook and Twitter, and accustomed to these social networking sites for news, learn about the latest information, or to these sites as the entrance to jump directly to the relevant news page, and rarely came to open those newspaper media site homepage. In other words, Internet users through the Internet to obtain news and information channels are being transferred to the social networking sites, rather than just stick news sites and search engines. Now, however, more and more rapid development of science and technology, can relate to the network carrier is also more and more, no longer limited to desktop or laptop computer, replaced the various tech news reader becomes more convenient, for example, smart phones , tablet intelligent computer. Since January 20, 2010 Apple released iPad, iPad could save the world press about the controversy on the day have not stopped. Although this debate in the future for a long period of time difficult to determine conclusively, but after the press who proved, iPad does give them hope. People increasingly found, tablet PCs, especially the iPad is ideal for reading the news. Therefore, the news reader application on the iPad appeared in large numbers is not surprising. Many U.S. news organizations have been developing software applications for the iPad, which has focused on the application of certain media, such as “Wall Street Journal”, “New York Times” iPad application, and there are many sources of converged applications that news aggregation services, such as, Flipboard, Editions and Zite and so on.

New digital technology to  journalists  core job becomes the beginning of the unilateral release of information and the way it releases are single media, “I publish, you see,” and now a variety of different forms of expression and communication and interaction and reader began to multiply, and reader communication from the beginning to the present variety of non-exchange interaction, but even change the way the news bearer.

This “How Will Web 2.0 Change Journalism?” video ask some interesting question that I am very exiting about it and was a surprise idea which journalism have being  change.
